Purpose:
One brief statement of the question or problem the experiment is
designed to investigate.
Materials &
Methods: A
description of the materials and apparatus used. Frequently, it is
permissible to refer to a reference.
Observation &
Data: Contains
the record of RAW data obtained and recorded during the experiment. This
could be visual changes and/or readings from instruments. Use tables to
record information whenever possible.
Calculations &
Results: Contains
an interpretation and explanation of the significance of the results
obtained. Often this is done by answering a set of questions, or working
through a set of problems, designed to direct the thinking of the inexperienced
scientist.
Conclusion: A clear, concise statement of the results obtained and its
relationship to principle involved.
